Oglebay Institute’s School of Dance in Wheeling, West Virginia, invites aspiring dancers ages 6-21 to study with master instructors during our Summer Dance Intensive June 17-23.

This intensive provides professional, focused training in the disciplines of Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Modern and vocal coaching from highly accomplished guest faculty to help prepare students for success in today’s diverse world of dance.

Students will stretch their talents, strengthen their knowledge of various dance forms and broaden their understanding of what it means to be a dancer with insight into the world of professional dance.

All students will have the opportunity to perform what they’ve learned at a special showcase for family and friends 10am Saturday, June 23 at The Linsly School.

Week-long accommodations available at The Linsly School

Stay at the beautiful campus of the nationally recognized Linsly School just minutes away from Oglebay Institute’s School of Dance.

Option A: Day session and lunch ($500 per student)

  • Daily intensive 9am-5pm at OI’s School of Dance
  • Lunch daily at The Linsly School
  • Meet & greet and welcome dinner 5:30pm Sun., June 17 at The Linsly School
  • Commemorative t-shirt

Option B: Day & evening sessions, lunch and dinner ($700 per student

  • Daily intensive 9am-5pm at OI’s School of Dance
  • Lunch and dinner daily at The Linsly School
  • Meet & greet and welcome dinner 5:30pm Sun., June 17 at The Linsly School
  • Water aerobic, conditioning and strength training classes 6:30-8:30pm nightly at The Linsly School
  • Commemorative t-shirt

Option C: Full residential camp with all meals & lodging
($1,200 per student. Available to ages 10 & up only.)

  • Lodging with overnight accommodations at The Linsly School

Erik (Cheeto) Zito
Erik (Cheeto) Zito

Erik (Cheeto) Zito – Award-wining hip hop dancer & choreographer 

Erik (Cheeto) Zito has been dancing for 10 years and minored in dance at The University of Akron. As a dancer, he has performed in many venues and groups such as the Indiana Pacers. His many honors include best performer, best choreography, 1st overall, and platinum in competitive dance. He is the founder and lead choreographer for the University of Akron’s Hip-Hop club and is the program coordinator of Ballet in Cleveland’s “Guys Dance Too” initiative.

Jerry Rose
Jerry Rose

Jerry Rose – Artistic Director, Beckley Dance Theatre

An accomplished dancer, choreographer and teacher, Jerry Rose is the artistic director of the Beckley Dance Theatre and director of the Dance Theatre School. His performance credits include Ballet Cirque, Charleston Ballet, Qwindo’s Window, Appalachian Dance and Music Ensemble, Kismet, Jerry Rose Dance Ensemble, Honey in the Rock, Dirty Dancing, and numerous other ballets, exhibitions, and demonstrations. He has served as an adjudicator for many prestigious competitions and his master classes have been enjoyed by thousands of dancers throughout the US, Russia and Canada. During the summer months, he teaches dance classes across the United States with Dance Caravan, USA.

Rose’s career in dance has spanned a lifetime, during which he shared his passion for music and movement with generations of aspiring dancers.

Heather Martin
Heather Martin

Heather Martin – Professional Dancer & Instructor

Heather Martin brings diverse experience as a professional dancer and instructor, specializing in pre-advanced ballet, pointe, modern/contemporary and variations.

Her teaching experience includes instructor for the Legacy Dance Academy in El Segunod, CA, Portland Festival Ballet & Portland Dance Academy and Fired Up Dance Academy in Tigard, OR.

Heather has performed as a soloist and guest artist in more than a dozen ballets for Silverlake Contemporary Ballet and Polaris Dance Theatre. Her performance experience also includes roles in The Nutcracker for the Pacific Festival ballet and Polaris Dance Theatre.

Kim Kafana
Kim Kafana

Kimberlee Kafana – Strength training & conditioning instructor

Kimberlee Kafana has been dancing and tumbling for more than 40 years. Kim has studied with many nationally and internationally known master teachers. She is United States Gymnastics Federation certified in safety & spotting, and also holds a certification in Barre Blend. She has performed in local productions of The Nutcracker with the Wheeling Symphony as well as many Oglebay Institute productions.

Bill Stephens
Bill Stephens

Bill Stephens – Vocal coach

Bill Stephens has been a music educator for the past 29 years and has served as band and choir director for Buckeye Local high school in Rayland, Ohio for the past 23 years. Mr. Stephens has degrees in Music Education and Conducting from West Liberty University and Kent State University.

Heather Henthorne
Heather Henthorne

Heather Henthorne – Certified group fitness & water aerobics instructor

Heather Henthorne is a NETA Group Fitness certified group fitness instructor, experienced in leading a variety of fitness classes and formats for all ages and fitness levels. She has a passion for dance fitness and instructs Water Aerobics, HIIT, Step, toning and strength classes on a regular basis. Other certification licenses and training include Bender Ball Pilates, Barre Blend, Yoga, Boot Camp and CPR.
