Event Details

Parcel Players, Oglebay Institute’s summer theater program for students ages 13 through college, will present two plays again this summer.

Students interested in participating in the second play of the 2018 season “Sir Not-So-Brave” can attend open call/auditions at 7 p.m. May 29 & 30 at Towngate Theatre. Those seeking roles can attend either of these dates.

Cast calls for 12 males, 3 females and 4-7 males or females. Readings from the script will be used to audition.

Parents are welcome to attend.

“Sir Not-So-Brave” will be in production August 1-4, 2018. Zachary Michael and Makayla Carney are directors. “In Sir Not-So-Brave,” a squire, Joseph, goes on a quest to slay a dragon after the realm’s strongest knight, Sir Gerald, is injured. In return, he will become the new king and marry his one true love, Princess Evelyn. Hilarity ensues, however, as the cast begins to question the logic of the script.”

Auditions for “The Fantasticks”

Students interested in participating in the first play “The Fantasticks” can attend open call/auditions at 7 p.m. May 13 & 14 at Towngate Theatre.

“The Fantasticks” will be in production July 11-14, 2018. Dave Henderson directs; Mikayla Schultz is music director.  It tells an allegorical story, loosely based on the play “The Romancers” (Les Romanesques) by Edmond Rostand, concerning two neighboring fathers who trick their children, Luisa and Matt, into falling in love by pretending to feud.
