Parcel Players Present “Guys and Dolls” at Towngate Theatre

Roll the Dice on a Broadway Classic: Parcel Players Present Guys and Dolls August 6–9 at Towngate Theatre

There’s something magical about watching young performers step into iconic roles and bring a beloved Broadway classic to life. This week, Oglebay Institute’s Parcel Players invite audiences to experience that magic with their production of the Tony Award-winning musical Guys and Dolls, on stage August 6-9 at Towngate Theatre.

Filled with unforgettable music, lively dance numbers, colorful characters, and plenty of laughs, Guys and Dolls has been entertaining audiences for more than 75 years. Set in the bustling streets of mythical New York City, the musical follows the adventures of smooth-talking gamblers, determined missionaries, and unlikely lovers whose lives become intertwined through a high-stakes bet.

Featuring a book by Abe Burrows and Jo Swerling and music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, the show includes some of Broadway’s most recognizable songs, including “Luck Be a Lady,” “A Bushel and a Peck,” and “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat.”

A Summer of Learning and Creativity

More than just a theatrical production, Guys and Dolls represents weeks of hard work, creativity, and collaboration by the talented young artists who make up Oglebay Institute’s Parcel Players.

Parcel Players is Oglebay Institute’s annual summer theatre program for students ages 13-21, offering aspiring performers and theatre technicians the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in every aspect of producing a musical. Participants don’t just perform on stage—they learn about directing, choreography, costumes, set construction, lighting, sound, stage management, props, and more while working alongside experienced theatre professionals.

Each summer, the program provides an environment where students develop confidence, creativity, teamwork, and leadership while building lifelong friendships and memories through the performing arts.

Bringing Broadway to Towngate

This year’s production is directed and choreographed by Erin Gallagher Bond, whose creative vision and dedication have guided the cast through an energetic and entertaining production.

Leading the cast are:

  • McKenna Everson as Sarah Brown
  • Austin Schwanker as Sky Masterson
  • Chloe Patt as Miss Adelaide
  • Jacob Boyette as Nathan Detroit

Supporting them is an outstanding ensemble of more than 30 young performers, each helping bring the colorful world of Guys and Dolls to life.

Adding to the excitement, the Saturday evening performance will feature an alternate cast in the lead roles, giving additional students the opportunity to showcase their talents. Saturday’s leads include Addison Hutson as Sarah Brown, Zack Kuttie as Sky Masterson, Flannery Muscar as Miss Adelaide, and JJ Brown as Nathan Detroit.
