Take a Scary Trek Through the Oglebay Woods
Ghosts, zombies, unsolved mysteries and screams in the night! Take a walk on the creepy side during Haunted Hikes in Oglebay on Saturday, October 22.
The staff at Oglebay Institute’s Schrader Environmental Education Center has put together a Halloween event that takes hikers on a scary trek through the Oglebay woods. Uncover creepy haunts, demented creatures and plenty of surprises along the way.
If you dare and love a good scare, show up at the Schrader Center in Oglebay on Saturday, October 22. Trail guides depart every half hour beginning at 7:30 p.m. The last group leaves at 9:30 p.m.
Haunted Hikes last 45 minutes to an hour. After the hike, return to the campfire circle for s’mores and cider.
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Costumes are encouraged! No flashlights.

While Haunted Hikes are geared toward adults and older kids, the Schrader Center is also hosting Halloween Hikes for families. Stroll through the Habitat Discovery Loop in the Oglebay woods. Stop at learning stations along the way. Meet costumed characters including owls, bats and spiders and hear stories of their amazing abilities. Family-friendly hikes take place from 5-7 p.m. October 22. Read more here.
