Bird Watching Hikes Along Oglebay Trails

Bird Watching Hikes in Oglebay

Bird watching doesn’t have to end once summer is over! Oglebay Institute’s Schrader Environmental Education Center offers monthly bird watching hikes in Oglebay though November.

Led by Schrader Center naturalists, guests hike along the Discovery Trail System. While learning to identify local birds by sight and sound, you may catch glimpses of less-seen, migrating species as they travel south.

Birders of all experience levels are welcome. Hikes last about an hour and half and are suitable for ages 12 and up with an accompanying adult. Wear outdoor clothing and good walking shoes/boots. Binoculars are provided.

Hikes take place at 10 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month– September 17, October 15 and November 19. Participants meet at the Schrader Center.

Connecting people to nature. . .

The Schrader Center offers dozens of seasonal nature programs for all ages. Nature enthusiasts gather at the Center to experience a sense of community around a shared love of nature. Preschoolers through adults enjoy year-round nature activities. Hands-on programs expand nature knowledge, promote outdoor discovery and foster lifelong learning, too.
