The Museums of Oglebay Institute offer a variety of classes, tours and workshops throughout the year – focusing on collections, exhibits, local history and historical figures. The Glass Museum, located below the Carriage House Glass Gift Shop in Oglebay, is one of the few places in the region where the beautiful art of glassworking can be observed and taught first-hand.
Glassmaking Workshops
Make your own glass paperweight in a half-hour session under the one-on-one guidance of an experienced glassblower. The glassblower will demonstrate how to make a paperweight step-by-step, and then guide the particpant through the process. Participants are required to wear provided safety gear, close-toed shoes and sign a waiver. The Paperweights must cool overnight, so they may be picked up the following day or be shipped to the participants for a fee of $10. Reservations are required.
