Performing arts camps give young people the opportunity to learn from seasoned actors and experience the joy, pride, praise and sense of accomplishment that comes with performing in front of a live audience. Camps enhance fundamental life skills such as teamwork, patience, mutual respect, self-confidence, tolerance and creative problem solving. Kids also explore how to create characters, props, costumes and scenery.
Camps are held at Towngate Theatre unless otherwise noted.
2026 Summer Day Camp Registration
2026 OI Summer Day Camps will be posted online February 9, 2026. OI members have priority access to register for camps during a special members-only registration period from 9am Monday, February 16 through Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

Learn the basic elements of acting while rehearsing a short play determined on the first day of camp. Enhance vocal and physical skills through warm-up exercises, play acting games and have free time to dress up and play with props. Campers must be available at 2pm on Friday for a performance.

July 6-10, 2026: Improvisation Camp
Use your imagination to create a scene that is inspired by a simple one-word suggestion. This “short form” improvisation camp will end with a performance of “Whose Turn Is It Anyway?” at 2pm on Friday.

July 13 – 17, 2026 Stage Craft Camp
This camp will explore the fundamentals of constructing and painting stage scenery and creating props and costumes through practical hands-on experiences. Students should wear older clothing and shoes that are ok to get messy.

July 20 – 24, 2026: Musical Theatre Camp
Students will sing, dance, and act as they develop the skills needed to become a “triple threat.” They will learn a physical and vocal warm-up, as well as work on scenes, songs, and choreography from several popular musicals that will culminate with a showcase performance at 2pm on Friday.

July 27 – 31, 2026: Fairy Tale Camp
Learn about acting through exercises in teamwork, improvisation, concentration, voice, and body language. Led by Towngate artistic staff, campers will create several short plays adapted from popular fairy tales to perform at 2pm on the final day of camp.
