About the Foxfire Film Festival

The city of Wheeling is about to roll out the red carpet for the very first Foxfire Film Festival, taking place September 11–14, 2025. This four-day celebration of documentary filmmaking will bring an incredible lineup of films, immersive workshops, panel discussions, director Q&As, and a highly anticipated student competition to the heart of the Ohio Valley.

Born from the belief that storytelling can spark conversation, connection, and change, Foxfire aims to create a space where filmmakers and audiences meet eye-to-eye. The inaugural program features award-winning and thought-provoking documentaries from around the world, paired with events that invite audiences to go deeper — including craft workshops, interactive panels with industry leaders, and opportunities to meet the directors behind the films.

A special highlight of the festival will be the Foxfire Student Documentary Competition, offering emerging filmmakers the chance to showcase their work on the big screen and connect with mentors, peers, and audiences in a supportive and inspiring environment.
