Nature Story Time at the Schrader Center

The only thing better than reading a book is reading it outside! Grab a book from our Children’s Library and find a cozy spot. Our Naturalist will connect the stories to the natural world around you. We’ll be sitting on the ground, so bring your own sitting blanket.

Available 10:15-11:15am Wednesdays, June 3 through August 12. In case of inclement weather, program will be held inside from 12:30-1pm. (Does not meet July 1).

All ages welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear appropriate shoes.

$5 per person. Free for OI members or those with activity wristbands.

Safety Guidelines:

Participants in summer programs at the Schrader Center can expect the following safety precautions and guidelines in response to the Coronavirus:

• Check-in will take place outside the Schrader Center on a first come, first served basis.
• 6’ of distance will be enforced for those who are not in the same household group.
• Household groups will be assigned their own exploration areas to maintain physical distancing.
• Household groups will be assigned their own program equipment which is disinfected before and after use.
• Hand sanitizer will be readily available.
• Instructors will be wearing face coverings when 6’ of distance cannot be met.
• Face coverings are recommended for each participant.

Replace your child’s screen time with green time! Our family nature programs bring families together for quality time learning about nature. So, get outside and explore! Activities ignite children’s interests in science and nature. Children socialize with other kids outside of a traditional classroom setting. They have a lot of fun, too. And parents meet and connect with other parents. Most of all, our programs instill a lifelong appreciation and respect for the natural world.
