New Appalachia 2025 Art Exhibition

Exploring the intersection of traditional Appalachian craft and contemporary artistic practices, New Appalachia 2025 showcases works that blend age-old techniques with modern materials and concepts.

Through metals, glass, fibers, wood, printing, and ceramics, artists connect to the region’s cultural heritage while pushing the boundaries of craftsmanship. By merging historical techniques with innovative approaches, the exhibition honors the lasting influence of Appalachian craft while embracing the transformative potential of today’s artistic exploration.

New Appalachia 2025 is on display July 25-August 30 at Oglebay Institute’s Stifel Fine Arts Center. Regular gallery hours are 9am-5pm Monday through Friday and 10am-4pm Saturday. Evening hours dependent on classes and special events. Admission is free.

A closing reception takes place Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 6-8pm.

Stifel Center Art Exhibition Season

A vibrant public space accessible to everyone, the Stifel Fine Arts Center showcases the work of established and emerging artists. Year-round, changing exhibits encourage enjoyment and appreciation of visual art through direct engagement with original works in traditional and non-traditional mediums.

Exhibits provide a platform for critical thinking, stimulate learning about art and the creative process and challenge viewers to expand the definition of art and reflect on the role of art in society.

Exhibits are free and open to the public to tour.
