Summer dance camps give children an opportunity to learn a variety of dance techniques and express their creativity through movement and music.
Summer Intensives offer students the opportunity to study with guest instructors who bring the knowledge, motivation and expectations of the professional world of dance.
Oglebay Institute’s Summer Day Camps are presented with support from:
June 5-9, 2017: Street Smarts & Self Defense (NEW!)
Taught by City of Wheeling Detective Matt Taylor, this course is designed to teach empowerment and wellness while instilling the confidence to protect and defend oneself. Learn self-defense, evading and escapes techniques. Internet safety and substance abuse will also be discussed. Beneficial for those going to residential summer camps and/or college. Bring a whistle to this camp.
June 12-16, 2017: Petite Cirque’ de Ballet
This camp introduces students to flexibility tricks, strength training for control, body awareness for overall form improvement and technique for acrobatics. Elements of ballet will be merged to create beautiful combinations. (Limit 20)
June 12-16, 2017: Elite Cirque’ de Ballet
A continuation of the Cirque’ de Ballet class. Intermediate to advanced level training. Students must have previously taken a class with Miss Kim and have a minimum of 3 years ballet and acrobatics/tumbling training. (Limit 20)
June 18-24, 2017: Summer Dance and Vocal Intensive
The Summer Dance & Vocal Intensive provides professional, focused training in the disciplines of Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Modern and vocal coaching from highly accomplished guest faculty to help prepare students for success in today’s diverse world of dance.
All students are invited to a meet & greet and welcome dinner 5:30pm Sunday, June 18 at The Linsly School. Students will also have the opportunity to perform what they’ve learned at a special showcase for family and friends 10am Saturday, June 24 at The Linsly School.

Little ones create artwork and learn Movement inspired by the sand, sun and everything fun under the sea! (Limit 16)
June 26-30, 2017: Dance Me a Ballet
Learn and explore classical technique from famous ballets while studying dance history, art and choreography. (Limit 25)
July 10-14, 2017: Peter Pan Musical Camp
Travel the 2nd star to Neverland through the exploration of dance, theater and music. (Limit 50)
July 10-14, 2017: I’ll Tumble 4 U
Rotate through stations, drills and proper progressions. This camp will help students achieve and master personal goals through correct form and technique. For intermediate to advanced intermediate students. (Limit 20)
July 17-21, 2017: The All American Girl Dance Camp
Grab your favorite doll and experience dance from different times, countries and cultures based on favorite American Girl stories. (Limit 20)
July 24-28, 2017: Disney Days Art & Movement Camp
Express your inner Mickey through different media in art exploration and creative movement in tumbling. (Limit 16)
July 24-28, 2017: Look Mom, No Hands!
Focus on progressions and combinations that include back handsprings, aerial work, tucks and layouts. Conditioning and strengthening drills along with proper progression will be taught to ensure safety. Participants must have taken prior classes in acrobatics and tumbling. (Limit 20)
July 31-August 4, 2017: Sesame Street Art & Movement Camp (NEW!)
Play and learn while creating art and explore tumbling & dance inspired by Big Bird, Elmo and all of their friends. (Limit 16)
August 7-11, 2017: Youth Ballet Company Experience
Designed for current members of the OI Youth Ballet Company. All members of the Youth Ballet Company are strongly encouraged to attend. This week of dance includes a comprehensive curriculum needed to prepare company dancers for the fall ballet and fall classes.
