The Gallery at Towngate hosts the exhibit “This is Me,” featuring the artwork of Oglebay Institute’s curator of exhibitions Lisa Rasmussen.
A professional artist and educator, Lisa Rasmussen works in a variety of media. Her work has been featured in numerous group and solo exhibitions in both Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
She is a member of the Pittsburgh Society of Illustrators, AIGA, Pittsburgh Watercolor Society, American Society of Botanical Artists, Allegheny Highlands Botanical Artists Society.
The exhibit is on display through January 15, 2022. The Gallery at Towngate is open 11am-1pm Monday through Friday and during all events.
Lisa’s Artist Statement:
“My watercolors and drawings endeavor to tell a visual story that the viewer hasn’t seen before. I am fascinated with the details and patterns in nature and the way light interplays with shadow and I work to emphasize that in my paintings and drawings. I look for unique points of view from which to observe my subjects. One of the things I love most about creating my paintings and drawings is turning an empty page into an image of a small part of nature, a person, or a scene to share with my audience. I want my work to call attention to the beauty in the natural world and the forgotten or overlooked in the human world.”
The Gallery at Towngate
Towngate Theatre is well known in Wheeling and its surrounding communities for community theater productions, children’s theater, concerts, ballet, film screenings, spoken word and other performing arts events. But did you know that Towngate is also an art gallery?
The Gallery at Towngate is a small space gallery that features the work of local and/or emerging artists and focuses on community engagement, inclusion and the mingling of visual and performing arts.
