Mat Robinson Art Exhibition Opening Reception

Join us 6-9pm Friday, March 5 for the opening of Mat Robinson’s exhibition at the Gallery at Towngate.

Mat Robinson is a Wheeling-native artist focusing on nature and the
human condition with hints of humor. He attended Wheeling Park High
School, Bethany College and Carnegie Mellon University. Currently, Mat
works as a professor of Visual Art at Bethany College.

The evening will also feature a performance by the Crazy 8s Improv Group at 8pm.

Masks will be required for entry and social distancing guidelines will be followed throughout the theatre.

The exhibit is open through May 15. The Gallery at Towngate is open 11am-1pm Monday through Friday and during all events.

Towngate Theatre is well known in Wheeling and its surrounding communities for community theater productions, children’s theater, concerts, ballet, film screenings, spoken word and other performing arts events. But did you know that Towngate is also an art gallery? The theater lobby is now home to changing art exhibits.

“The Gallery at Towngate” is an extension of the exhibit season hosted by Oglebay Institute’s Stifel Fine Art Center. This second gallery space provides opportunities for artists to do solo exhibitions without having to fill a space as large as the Stifel Fine Arts Center. The gallery space also enhances the visitor experience for those attending performing arts events at Towngate.
