Towngate Theatre presents “Twelfth Night” by William Shakespeare.

Shows take place May 3, 4, 5 & 10 & 11, 2024. Curtain is at 8pm Fridays and Saturdays. A 3pm matinee takes place Sunday, May 5.

Join Us for Dinner after the Show

The Friends of Towngate will host a fundraising dinner at 5:30pm Sunday, May 5, following the matinee performance of “Twelfth Night.”

Cost is $30 per person. Menu includes chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, carrots, rolls, and Elizabethan desserts.

You can purchase tickets for the dinner with your show ticket. Advanced reservations required. Seating is limited. All proceeds support Towngate Theatre.

About the Play

“Twelfth Night,” or What You Will, is a romantic comedy by William Shakespeare that is believed to have been written around 1601–1602 as a Twelfth Night entertainment for the close of the Christmas season. The play centers on the twins Viola and Sebastian, who are separated in a shipwreck.

Orsino is in love with Olivia, but she’s mourning for her dead brother, so has rejected all his advances so far. He sends Cesario (who is really Viola) with love letters to woo Olivia on his behalf. Unfortunately for the Duke, Olivia is taken in by Cesario’s disguise and falls in love with him.
