About the Movie

“The Big Lebowski” is not just a movie. The 1998 Coen Brothers film about a SoCal slacker entangled in a case of mistaken identity is an undeniable pop culture force.

A mix of crime noir and bizarre comedy, “The Big Lebowski” tells the story of Jeffrey Lebowski aka The Dude, His Dudeness and El Duderin, and his unexpected journey from unemployment loafer to kidnapping go-between, rug thief and bowling kingpin.

The cast is headed by Jeff Bridges (The Dude) and John Goodman and also features Steve Buscemi, John Turturro, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Julianne Moore.

When originally released, the movie was a bit of a box office flop and received mixed reviews. However, its quirky characters, iconic moments and inspired dialogue soon elevated it to cult status—spawning merchandise, cocktails, countless memes, fansites, themed venues, an annual festival and, yes, even a religion known as Dudeism.

So, put on your bathrobe, make a White Russian and head to Towngate for this classic film.

You Can Have Dinner, too!

Moviegoers have the option to have dinner in Towngate’s social room prior to the screening. Park once and enjoy twice the fun!
