Event Details

Superheroes, Super Villains, and their sidekicks maintain an honored place in the imaginations of people of all ages. Their images, full of power and wonder, fill the Hart Galleries of the Stifel Fine Arts Center during the “Heroes and Villains” art exhibit.

The exhibit is a popular part of the Stifel Center’s permanent collection and was last shown in 2008.

Illustrating how comics are created from sketch to final book, “Heroes and Villains” features original, hand-drawn art from some of the most popular comics of all time, including Superman, Batman, the X-Men, and more. More than a dozen museum-replica sculptures are also on display along with “meet the artist” panels, which highlight the careers of some of the most revered comic book artists such as Stan Lee and Bob Kane.

In addition, this exhibit features comic artwork by Western Pennsylvania illustrator Mark Zingarelli, a freelance illustrator, cartoonist, and writer working in the publishing, design, and entertainment industry. His illustrations and comic strips have appeared in most of the major magazines and newspapers in the U.S.

The exhibit continues through April 30 and is part of Oglebay Institute’s season of changing art exhibits, which is sponsored by United Bank.

The Stifel Fine Arts Center is open 9am-5pm Monday through Friday, 10am-4pm Saturday and during all classes and public events.
