Oglebay Institute’s Stifel Fine Arts Center and the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra have partnered to blend visual art and music, showcase the creativity of young people in our region, and highlight the connection between art and nature.
Student artists participating in Stifel’s 2025 Regional Student Art Exhibition have created original artworks for the exhibit America’s Treasured Landscapes that will be showcased during the WSO’s Masterworks concert Nature. Beauty February 8, 2025.
Featuring music inspired by National Parks, this Masterworks performance celebrates the relationship between music and nature–including a tribute to West Virginia’s New River Gorge.
Prior to the concert (12-2pm) and during the post-concert reception (4-5pm), the exhibit will be on display in the Capitol Theatre ballroom. Also, during composer Matt Jackfert’s “Foggy Moon over the Gorge,” large scale digital images of student artworks inspired by nature’s beauty will be displayed for concertgoers.
Thirty-seven pieces were submitted for consideration and juror Aaron Anslow selected 17 pieces from 15 student artists for inclusion in America’s Treasured Landscapes exhibit.
